Equity in Production Economies with Dedicated Factors
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper I consider the problem of determining an equitable allocation of resources in production economies in which factors must be dedicated to production. That is, although they might be used to produce various consumption goods, they cannot be consumed directly. I rst establish that in such economies, envy-free and e¢ cient allocations exist under standard assumptions, whereas that is not the case for general production economies [Pazner and Schmeidler (1974)]. However, I argue that no-envy is not a suitable notion of fairness in this context. I then introduce two new concepts of fairness and I explore the compatibility of each with Pareto e¢ ciency. A novel aspect of these is that they include the inuence of each agent on the factor allocation decision as a component of fairness. Finally, I provide an example to demonstrate the new concepts.

Macroeconomic, International Linkage and Effects of External Shocks in Southeast Asian Emerging Economies
This study is an attempt to examine the effects of external shocks on macroeconomic variables in selective small open emerging economies in Southeast Asia. A quarterly Global Vector Autoregressive (GVAR) model, including 33 countries, was used throughout 1979–2013. The empirical results showed that the target countries were affected by external shocks, especially the shocks in the U.S, Euro are...
متن کاملCan Financing Constraints Explain the Asset Pricing Puzzles in Production Economies?
General Equilibrium asset pricing models have a difficult time simultaneously delivering a sizable equity premium, a low and counter-cyclical real risk free rate, as well as cyclical variation in return volatility. To explain these stylized facts, this paper introduces occasionally binding financing constraints that impede producers’ ability to invest in an otherwise standard real business cycl...
متن کاملCore-equivalence for the Nash bargaining solution
Core equivalence and shrinking of the core results are well known for economies. The present paper establishes counterparts for bargaining economies, a specific class of production economies (finite and infinite) representing standard two-person bargaining games and their continuum counterparts as coalition production economies. Thereby we get core equivalence of the Nash solution. The results ...
متن کاملEquity and efficiency in non-convex economies
The objective of this paper is to consider the following question. Does the presence of increasing returns introduce a fundamental trade-off between equity and efficiency objectives? We show that if the no-envy notion of Foley (1967) is taken as the equity criterion and Pareto optimality as the efficiency criterion, then the answer is yes; there exist economies with increasing returns and well-...
متن کاملThe Role of Institutions in the Dynamic Effects of Oil Revenues in Oil Economies
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the system of oil revenues effects on the production performance of oil-rich countries in both short and long-run. To reveal new insight, a macroeconomic model is designed to hypothesize long-run structural relations in the economies of the oil-rich countries including three long-run relationships of real output, real money balance, and the adjusted p...
